What was unique at the time was the combination of housing for over 900 people with social facilities and exclusive shops to promote a humanistic community. Straße Nummer Eins lets old, new, and former tenants tell their stories, searching for the ideal of community in a totalitarian system and its fate in German society after the end of the communist empire.
